Career Opportunities
Curatorial Assistance seeks bright and energetic individuals for various internship positions within our organization. Interns are accepted at any time throughout the year depending upon openings available. These may be in the areas of fundraising and development, exhibition marketing and development, or in art collections management.
Collections Research and Conservation
Curatorial Assistance needs several interns to play a crucial role in the digital cataloguing and conservation of a major photographic collection made by Britain's preeminent Modernist photographer from 1910 to 1940.
E. O Hoppé (1878–1972) was "the most famous photographer in the world in the 1920s" whose photographic archives were recently "excavated" from one of England's oldest picture libraries where the works were interred in 1953. The collection contains the photographer's vintage prints, negatives, and various published books and articles both by and about Hoppé. His subjects include modernist topographic views of the USA, Europe, India, Indonesia and Australia and a large number of portraits of the most famous arts and letter figures from England, Europe and the USA. The archive is in the process of preparing a major retrospective exhibition. Interns will work with Curatorial Assistance staff to one or several of the following tasks; perform conservation work on selected negatives, digitize images for a pictorial database and inventory items into the collection. The internship will be structured to suit the individual interns.
